Build a Widget

Widgets are small, glanceable surfaces for your home screen. The best do one thing well — show a piece of information at a glance, or offer a quick, single-purpose function. Describe what you want in plain language and the agent builds it and deploys it to your device.

A widget is a small tile or short strip, not a full app. Keep the idea to what fits that space and the results are far better.

What works well: glanceable displays (weather, next meeting, a countdown), clocks and calendars, reminders and notes, system shortcuts, small games and toys, and quirky home-screen touches.

The more specific your prompt, the closer the result lands.

• Be explicit. Spell out the behaviour, data, and layout. “FTSE 100 with the day’s change in red or green” beats “a stocks widget”.
• Reference design. Name the colours, fonts, shapes, or style you’re after.
• Upload an image. Use images to give the agent a strong visual starting point.

The builder is non-deterministic — the same prompt won’t always give the same result, and it may not nail it the first time. That’s normal. Most widgets currently take eight or nine goes before they’re ready to deploy, so keep refining: tell the agent what to change (“make it bigger”, “use the red accent”) and it builds a new version. There’s a usage cap in the beta, but plenty of room for many versions, so don’t be shy about experimenting.

Some of these need permission. A widget will ask the first time it wants your calendar, location, camera, or microphone.

Other web searches may also work if the agent is able to fetch from a source online that doesn’t require authentication.
